AUTHOR SERVICES
The publishing world can be overwhelming. The evolution of idea to written word, and finally, to publication, is a journey, and not often an easy one.
In addition to her audio and video production skills, Carol Ford has worked in the publishing arena for nearly thirty years, and has decades of experience and expertise in manuscript preparation and organization, subject research, APA style and format, writing, editing, and publisher search and selection.
Whether you are writing a memoir, a fiction or non-fiction article or book, or a scholarly manuscript for peer-reviewed publication, we're here for you.
Let's get you published!
Manuscript Preparation
The initial phases of your written project are key to a successful publication. Before you even begin to write, you'll need to:
Define your topic.
Set a parameter (i.e., what part or parts of the topic will be the main focus?).
Sketch out a rough plot to determine your Chapters, or in the case of a scholarly manuscript, Headings/Subheadings.
Know your audience (e.g., read the room).
Research your topic and details you don't know or understand.
Organize your thoughts and research.
Develop an outline.
Editing
The first draft of your manuscript is not anywhere close to being your final, publishable version. Editing services include the following for both fiction and non-fiction works, as well as scientific manuscripts for scholarly publication:
Grammar and punctuation.
Sentence structure.
Ethical considerations of presented text.
APA style and formatting, with reference citation and list checks.
Continuity.
Overall feedback of the plot or topic.
Permission requests to rights holders of non-original materials.
